Michael J. Sacopulos is an attorney who has been educating and advising physicians how to identify and reduce liability risk for more than 20 years. Known for his sharp wit, common sense guidance, and ability to turn mundane legal topics into entertaining educational sessions, Michael speaks nationally on privacy, security, and compliance issues.

 

In 2018, Michael co-authored Tweets, Likes, and Liabilities, published by Greenbranch Publishing, and became co-host of the SoundPractice podcast. In 2016, he was selected as “Lawyer of the Year” in the practice area of Medical Malpractice Law for Indiana by “Best “Lawyers.” In 2017, he was named National Counsel for Sciemus, a Lloyd’s of London firm, for its SafeHealth policy – the first cyber insurance product designed exclusively for healthcare industry. And in 2012, Michael won the Medical Group Management Association’s (MGMA’s) Edward B. Stevens Article of the Year Award.

 

Michael has written for the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Bloomberg, as well as the Journal of Medical Practice Management, Association of Dermatology Managers and Administrators (ADAM) News, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) AAOSNow, Physicians Practice, and Medscape. He is a frequent national speaker for industry organizations such as the American Society for Aesthetic Surgeons (ASAPS), ADAM, AAOS, International Symposium of Facial Plastic Surgery, American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), and others.

 

Michael attended Harvard College, London School of Economics, and Indiana University/Purdue University School of Law. He is the executive vice-president of the Aesthetic Stem Cell Society.

 

When he’s not at the podium or in the courtroom, Mike is a martini connoisseur who enjoys reading, adding rare birds to his Life List, and planning his next travel adventure.
